This summer New City Neighbors has a new kitchen director! Bethany is our new kitchen director, as Joel transitions out from his position (his last day is August 15. Make sure to express your appreciation for him!). You can meet her on Thursdays at the cafe 12-6:30!

Bethany is a mother of two and a Korean Adoptee. She is involved in Family for International Children (FFIC) and Korean Connection. She has worked in restaurants and the food industry for over 20 years! Her favorite baked good to make is pies of any kind. She has a passion for cooking, and loves to teach. Her favorite quote is “Food is love” and uses that as a philosophy in the kitchen. She looks forward to expanding the bakery program. This year she had the opportunity to add four more kids to the program, making it a total of fourteen students in the kitchen! As the kitchen director, she is in charge of feeding everyone, and running the cafe. As well as, teaching the middle schoolers responsibility, having pride in their work, and social education.
