A Program for Students
The New City Bakery is a unique entrepreneurship program that was started in the summer of 2006. For seven weeks, 6th-8th grade students are taught basic job skills that increase their chances of succeeding in the work place. Students are taught the importance of showing up on time, having good hygiene, maintain the supplies needed to run a business, and people skills. Furthermore, they are taught how to work hard while having fun. At the end of the summer, most students have mastered money/goods exchange, multi- tasking, and quality control. We limit this program to ten students so that we can focus on each individual and make sure that each young person succeeds.
Each year we take a trip to celebrate the student’s accomplishments, build community, and learn more about eachother and God. This past summer we visited Chicago! See our group of bakers and leaders pictured in Chicago above.
A Bakery for the Neighborhood
New City Bakery opens every summer for seven weeks. We serve delicious baked goods! Our prices are very competitive and we’re pretty sure that once you taste what we make, you’ll find yourself coming back time and time again.
This summer New City Bakery will be serving baked goods as a part of New City Cafe! More details will be coming over the next couple months, so stay tuned!
