There is so much to be thankful for, that I’m not sure where to begin. New City Neighbors has been blessed this past year in so many ways. Over the next four days I want to spend time reflecting, sharing stories, and showing thanks for all God is doing through our ministries.
Today I want to thank God. Without God sending Jesus to live, die, resurrect and ascend, we would not have the ministry we do today. Not only am I super grateful for God’s redeeming work in my own life, I’m grateful for the redeeming work he is doing in the lives of children.
This past week at 180 we were talking about life after death. We talked about salvation through Jesus Christ and how to be saved. During the conversation, one of the young men said to his leader, “I’m not sure I’m going to heaven.” He then asked a series of questions to try and find out where he would go after death. When the small group ended, he asked to talk to his leaders and said he wanted to give his life to Christ! Another young man, who was also stirred by the Spirit, joined them, and he too gave his life to Christ!
I am very thankful that God is working in the hearts of children. The two boys would not have given their lives to Christ if God hadn’t been moving in them and I can’t wait to see what God will do with them next.
God, thank you for loving children. Thank you for sending Jesus to love us, save us, and call us to a greater life. Thank you for sustaining New City Neighbors, and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to love children like you love us! Thank you that these two young men gave their lives to you. God, protect them, encourage their faith, and raise them up to be leaders in your kingdom.
Amen.
