Executive Director Leadership: Meet Kelly!

As you may know, our former executive director, Alaina Dobkowski, transitioned out of her role at the end of October 2018. Since then, the New City Neighbors staff and board have worked together to continue to run the programs of New City Neighbors with success. We want to ensure that our process for finding a permanent executive is equitable, organized, and rooted in faith. While navigating how to best ensure that, we decided to hire an interim executive director. An interim executive director can provide stability and structure to the ministry while we do our due diligence in looking for a permanent executive director.

In our search for an interim executive director, Kelly Hagmeyer applied. Through a joint board/staff hiring team, Kelly emerged as the best candidate for this position. Kelly has partnered with New City Neighbors previously, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her leading our team! She started on February 25th, and will be in this role through the Fall Fundraiser. Check out below for a little about Kelly:

Kelly Hagmeyer recently joined the New City Team as Interim Executive Director. For the last eleven years, she served as Mission Advancement Director at the YMCA, where she was part of a team that implemented projects such at the YMCA Veggie Van – a year-round mobile farmers market – and the YMCA Healthy Corner Store initiative, which brought fresh produce to nine corner stores in Grand Rapids neighborhoods where access to fresh fruits and veggies is limited. Kelly is passionate about food justice and healthy eating and enjoys spending time with her husband Grant and college-age children, Zoe and Miles.

Welcome, Kelly! If you have any more questions about this transition, feel free to contact us below.
