We had a great high school Bible study last night where we talked about thankfulness. The students listed numerous things they were thankful for and it was an insightful night for me. Students listed everything from food and shelter, to being thankful that a friend, who was recently shot, is going to make it.

The reality is, we have a lot to be thankful for. The students wrestled with the fact that God has blessed them in numerous ways and they need to work to adopt an attitude of gratitude. As the students talked about being thankful, I challenged them to write out a list of all God has given them to be thankful for. I’m curious to see if they’ll do it.

On behalf of New City Neighbors, I am going to continue our list of thankfulness.

Today I want to say thank you to everyone who has donated to our ministries in some way. When we started NCN in 2007, it was right as the economy stalled. Trying to start a nonprofit in a down economy is not easy work, but we were blessed to have people, businesses, and churches who rallied behind our mission to financially support NCN. God has taken care of us in amazing ways through the generosity of people like you! We wouldn’t be here without your support.

That being said, I want to say thank you to everyone who has financially supported us over the last six years. God is using you and your resources to grow his kingdom. Lives are being changed. Kids are finding Christ, completing their homework, and learning job skills because of your investment. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has donated items over the years to help us expand our ministries. We have received books, mixers, tillers, mowers, computers, ingredients, and many other things that have greatly blessed our ministries. These gifts allow us to continue to dream about ways we can expand ministries to reach more children.

Thank you to everyone who has donated meals over the last six years. EMS/180, Breaktime, and other ministries have been blessed by the large number of people who have provided great meals for children.

Thank you to everyone who helps us with our fundraisers. Thank you for running with us, thank you for donating items to our auction, thank you for inviting friends to the fundraisers, thank you for introducing new people to our ministries.

We’re only on day 3 of thanking people, but I hope you can see it takes a lot of people working together accomplish great ministry. Thank you for being a part of our mission to love children and introduce them to Christ.
