Over the weekend I received a Breaktime Bakery registration form for summer 2013. It caught me by surprise because I haven’t officially sent out registration forms yet. We’ve started planning for Breaktime, the Bakery, and the Urban Farm and we’re excited about what this summer could look like. We are getting new curriculum for the Bakery and Farm to better prepare students for college and careers. We’re adding a hoop house, well and farm stand to take the farm to the next level. We’re working on new mixers for the Bakery, and adding new recipes to produce baked goods that will make the health conscious and gluten-free crowds smile. We’re purchasing new tools and resources to help with literacy, life skills, and adding a much improved art component to Breaktime. This year we’re also broadening our marketing for these programs by going to a more schools to advertise and recruit kids.

We believe this summer could have a huge impact on the lives of children living in our community. While we take steps to grow these ministries, we want to ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in this work. There will be opportunities to:

  • help with Farm work projects
  • purchase produce and baked goods
  • provide lunches
  • read with students
  • plan games and activities
  • chaperone field trips

I know its only March, but summer fills up fast. Prayerfully consider how you might partner with us this summer and change the life of a child.
